Styling and build quality
Innokin’s first foray into Temperature Control devices was the TC Cortex and it was only a matter of time before they added that feature to their highly popular Cool Fire IV devices. The new TC100W features Innokin’s Aethon chipset which is designed to give extremely accurate readings and now allows you to use Stainless Steel in Temperature Mode unlike the Cortex.
Unlike the previous Cool Fire IV models which could only go up to 70W this device offers up to 100W of power. The battery is unchanged and still 3300mAh capacity so do keep in mind with far more power at your disposal it will drain much faster if vaping at high Wattage.
The look of the device is largely unchanged and it retains its form friendly design. The gold plated 510 pin is spring-loaded featuring stainless steel threading and I had absolutely no issues getting my atomizers to sit flush on this device. The TC100W has plenty of ventilation with forty six small holes located on one side of the device.
The Micro USB port is sensibly located on the front of the device which means you can keep it upright while you charge it. The TC100W does have pass-through functionality so you can still vape while you charge. The OLED screen is both bright and clear and features all of the typical information you might expect such as: Wattage/Temperature, Resistance, Voltage and Battery Life.
The TC100W has the trademark Cool Fire IV oversized fire button with its LED lighting that helps you keep note of the battery charge. Like the other Cool Fire IV devices there two small buttons for making adjustments. The fire button still has that nice feel to it and for the most part the buttons feel durable enough. On the device I received the plus button rattled a little but it still worked without issue. Since this is the first Cool Fire IV I have tried that has ever had any rattling I will assume it is a one off.
Ease of use
- Click the fire button three times to switch the device on/off.
- When fitting a new atomizer the device will ask for coil type. Use the plus and minus buttons to cycle options and confirm your selection with the fire button.
- Press fire button and the plus button to manually select Titanium, Ni200, Stainless Steel and Variable Wattage.
- Press fire button and the minus button to select the desired Wattage when in Temperature Control.to select ramp up wattage when in temp control.
- Hold down the plus and minus buttons simultaneously to flip the display.
- Use the plus and minus buttons to adjust temperature or Wattage.
